5 Tips To Reposition Your Business

Is your brand feeling a bit stale? Maybe it’s time for a repositioning.. here’s my top tips!

Brand repositioning is when you tweak how your audience associate with your brand and what they expect from you. It’s a step down from a full rebrand but perfect for brining your business up to date.

Here are my 5 top tips for repositioning.

1. What’s your existing position?

I love to go back to basics! Start by writing down your mission, values, value proposition, brand voice and USP. If you’ve not done this before, now is a great time to start. If you’re struggling with this, we have a great module on branding within the membership that will help you get clear on all of these things.

2. Analyse the market & competition

Investigate your competitors’ positioning to get an understanding of their influence on your target audience. Go deep!

3. Compare your business to your competitors

Now you’ve analysed your competition, you’ll have a good understanding of how you compare. It’s a good idea to perform a SWOT at this point, list your Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities & Threats in all areas of your business in comparison to theirs. Social media, messaging, value, offering.. etc. Figure out the gaps and exploit the opportunities.

4. Create a new brand positioning statement

Your new brand positioning statement should encompass the identity your business is striving for, whom you want to attract and why. Ask yourself who your ideal client is, not your current client, but the one you would be buzzing to sell to! What are their pain points? What is the problem that you exist to solve?

5. Test

The final step is to test your new brand position on your target audience. Use surveys, focus groups, one to one interviews, Facebook groups are a great way to find your target audience too. If all goes well, YAY! Congrats! If not, don’t worry, just keep tweaking until you’re happy.
